Discovering Suri Alpacas was not a part of our planned agenda. Upon encountering these majestic creatures, Angelique and her daughter Carly at Moonhall Alpacas in Kilkenny on one of our visits, our interest was piqued. Their Mid Brown coats and exquisite locks captivated us, sparking a newfound fascination.

When the opportunity arose to acquire Angelique, we seized it eagerly, marking the beginning of our Suri Alpaca journey in January 2023 at Hilltop Farm.  Angelique settled in seamlessly, and soon after, her two-year-old daughter Carly joined our herd, adding to the charm of our growing Suri family. 

Suri alpacas exhibit unique personalities distinct from their Huacaya counterparts. Often preferring solitude, you may catch them enjoying moments of quiet contemplation away from the herd.

Our narrative continued as we envisioned utilizing Angelique and Carly for breeding purposes. Angelique was bred with Moonhall Falco, expecting her cria in June 2024, while Carly was reserved for future breeding plans.

By the end of summer 2023, our herd welcomed the magnificent Rose Grey Suri male stud, Purple Reign of Amberly Alpacas.

The rariety of a Rose Grey Male Suri prompted us once again, resulting in Purple Reign becoming a valued member of our herd in October 2023.

Within a mere 10 months, our Suri Alpaca family had expanded from none to three. May 2024 brought the arrival of our fourth addition, Jasper, our first Suri cria – a stunning male boasting a light-hued fleece, enriching our farm with his presence.

As our Suri Alpaca family flourished, we embarked on a journey of learning and appreciation for these graceful animals. Their elegant demeanor and unique characteristics continued to fascinate us, solidifying our commitment to their care and well-being.

Observing them graze peacefully in the pastures, it became evident that these creatures had become an integral part of our farm's identity and spirit.

Suri Alpacas
